Monitoring of 2D Seismic Survey in about 80,000 sq km area of Rajasthan

MoP&NG has initiated the campaign to assess the prospectively of hydrocarbons in unexplored area of sedimentary Basins of India and about 80,000 sq km coverage would be considered under 3729 LKM 2D seismic survey of Rajasthan. The campaign is being monitored by ONGC & Oil India Ltd.

About 2730 LKM has been completed till May, 2018 in parts of Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Nagaur, Bhilwara, Jhalawar, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Banswara, Baran, Chittaurgarh & Kota districts. Remaining 2D seismic survey work is expected to be completed till March, 2019 in above districts including other districts such as Barmer, Sirohi and Karauli.

Marginal Fields – 2 areas of ONGC from Jaisalmer Basin

On 2nd September 2015, the Cabinet of GoI has approved the Marginal Field Policy (MFP) with the objective to bring marginal fields to the production at the earliest so as to augment the domestic production of oil and gas. Government has attempted to include certain reforms in the hydrocarbon exploration and production management through this policy with sole intention to increase the production at the earliest. Two marginal fields of Rajasthan, namely Bakhri Tibba PML and Sadewala PML have been awarded under Discovered Small Field Policy to Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL) for development and production.
