SOP for Awarding PEL

1. 1. Exploration Blocks awarded by Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoP&NG), GoI through global bidding or OALP (Open Acrage License Policy) under HELP (Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy) to Oil Exploring Companies.
2. 2. Approval of MoP&NG to the concerned State for the issuance of Petroleum Exploration License (PEL) in favour of Awardee Company (ies) for carrying out exploration  as per Minimum Work Program.
3. 3. The awardee company (ies) submits its application to the Department with prescribed fees as applicable as per P&NG Rules, 1959.
4. 4. After examination of the application, the Department forwards the proposal to Administrative Department (A/D)  for grant of PEL.
5. 5. A/D, after obtaining approval from concerned Principal Secretary and Hon'ble Minister, issues the sanction order for applied PEL.
6. 6. Awardee Company (ies) starts its exploration in the said Block by seismic survey, etc and drilling of exploratory wells for which they have to obtain CTE/CTO and temporary land acquisition.
